报告人简介：  

Dr. Douglas Maraun is Associate Professor at the Wegener Center for Climate and Global Change and head of the Regional Climate Research Group.

His research focusses on regional climatic changes and approaches to assess these. He is particularly interested in extreme precipitation, its natural variability and its response to global warming. In parallel he has been working on the evaluation of regional climate models. More recently he has become interested in researching how future weather might manifest: will the character of storms, precipitation or droughts change, and what are the underlying processes?

Beyond the purely scientific basic research, he collaborates with stakeholders in politics and administration and transfer his knowledge to the general public. He has contributed as lead author to the recent 6th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). A ranking of Stanford University and Elsevier lists him among the 2% top scientists.
