Allan Frei 教授简介:
Prof. Allan Frei is a tenured Full Professor in the Department of Geography at Hunter College, City University of New York, USA, where he served as Chair of the Department from 2012 through 2018. He also serves as Deputy Director of the Institute for Sustainable Cities at Hunter College. Prof. Frei has been at Hunter College since 2001. He received his Ph.D. from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, USA, in 1997, and was a Postdoctoral Researcher (1997-1998) and a Research Scientist (1999-2000) at the US National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado, USA.
To date, Professor Frei has published 50 peer-reviewed journal articles. He was also a Contributing Author to the 4th Assessment Report to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-AR4). Prof. Frei’s research interests fall in two broad categories. Until 2009 his main interest was in variations in the cryosphere, in particular snow, at regional to global spatial scales. Since 2009 he has been working with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection on their project to evaluate the vulnerabilities of the City’s water supply to climate change and other potential changes in the twenty-first century. His current research focus is on the role of extreme events in the vulnerability of the water supply.
Professor Frei has been a Visiting Faculty at the International Arctic Research Center, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, USA (2014); and a Visiting Scientist at Climate Research Division of Environment Canada, Toronto, ON, Canada (2007-2008). He is currently an Affiliate at the American Geographical Society (2017-present), and previously served as the Chair of the Cryosphere Specialty Group of the Association of American Geographers (2005-2007). He also currently serves as a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Extreme Events (2014-present).
