The State Key Laboratory of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Science (WRHES), Wuhan University, is operated with a persistent aim to create an innovation platform for scientific research and engineering application in the fields of water resources and hydropower engineering. To further promote academic exchanges and cooperation, the laboratory has set up a visiting scholars’ fund. Now, we would like to sincerely invite scholars in the fields of water resources and hydropower engineering to submit proposals of research cooperation at Wuhan University for the year of 2015.

      Researches in five major research areas will be supported by the laboratory, which are:
      (1) Spatial and temporal distribution of water resources and its integrated management
      (2) Water-saving irrigation and its environmental effects
      (3) Flow and sediment movement and river regulation
      (4) Safety of hydraulic structures and reservoir-dam systems
      (5) Operation safety and control of hydropower stations

      Funding by the laboratory includes two types, key programs and general programs. The maximum budget for a key program is 150,000 RMB and 80,000 RMB for a general program. The research period of the sponsored programs is 2 years.
      Attached please find the application form of the visiting scholars’ fund at the WRHES. If the fund is approved, two SCI papers for key programs, or one SCI paper for general programs, must be published with the State Key Laboratory of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Science, Wuhan University, being the first affiliation.
      The application deadline for the visiting scholars’ fund of the year of 2015 is October 15th, 2015. Application forms should be sent to wrhes@whu.edu.cn. Proposals will be reviewed by the scientific committee of State Key Laboratory of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Science and be granted based on merits.
