     Shaista Andleeb (Ph.D., Eco-toxicology) graduated in 2018, from Department of Environmental Sciences & Wildlife Management, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Her major research interest lies in Water Ecology, more specifically Geno-toxic effects of persistent organic and inorganic pollutants on Endangered small species.

报告简介：

     The topic of her talk is “Impact of Environmental Toxicants on Aquatic Endangered small species and Ecosystem”. Large-scale application of pesticides to crops as well as industrial discharge, constitute contaminates like heavy metals which may contribute to the presence of toxic substances in the environment. These chemicals can find their way into the water reservoirs, streams and rivers, thus producing an adverse impact on the aquatic biota including fishes. Their excessive contamination of aquatic ecosystems has also evoked major environmental and health concerns worldwide. The assessment of the Eco-toxicological risks caused by pesticides and metals to ecosystems is based on data on knowledge of the contaminant toxicity to non-target organisms such as fishes. This talk is about how to understand the mechanistic aspects of toxicity and oxidative stress of pesticides and metals on fish and thus in aquatic ecosystems.
